Getting Ready at Missouri Athletic Club
This Fall wedding at Missouri Athletic Club was a perfect blend of classy black-tie affair and old money cocktail party. As St. Louis Wedding photographers, we live for downtown weddings like this one! Downtown St. Louis weddings are always so stylish and are an excellent choice for couples looking for vintage-inspired stylish touches. The architectural and interior design of St. Louis’s downtown buildings simply cannot be matched when searching for that formal city vibe. Liz and Scott were all these elements and more.
The couple each got ready on site at Missouri Athletic Club in their respective spaces. Scott obviously wore a black tux (what else right?) and Liz wore one of our most unique and beautiful dresses we’ve seen in a while.
The First Look
Liz and Scott met in Missouri Athletic Club’s ballroom, The Missouri Room for their first look. Their ballroom is so amazing. Not only is it perfect for your big day, but also for wedding portraits. We always love getting to do a first look. Every first look is so special and it gives our couples to opportunity to not only see each other early, but also spend the rest of the day together! We spent a few sweet moments photographing their time alone together then gave them some time to truly be alone before we set off for wedding portraits at Lafayette Square Park.

Wedding Portraits
After arriving at Lafayette Square Park for wedding portraits with the wedding party, we made sure to get a photo with all their best friends. Each member of the wedding party was dressed to the nines just like our couple so these photos were easy! We love taking wedding party photos at Lafayette Square because it’s small but beautiful. The size makes it easy for everyone to get off the trolley and get photos done quickly without worrying about walking too far. It’s also always either in bloom or full of Fall colors.

Newlywed Photos
With the wedding party portraits complete, we were all set for couple’s portraits. As mentioned so many times before, Liz and Scott were so stylish and just a breeze to photograph. Combined with the Fall colors, Fall weather, and Liz and Scotts vision for their portraits, these two made for the perfect newlyweds to do wedding portraits for. Their chemistry and 10/10 face cards also helped. Lafayette Square not only works for wedding party photos, but it’s perfect for newlywed photos. The park itself is great obviously, but the surrounding neighborhood is perfect for adding colorful details for your background. We love all the historic homes and getting to walk among them for portraits ensures your photos feel relaxed and unique.

Back to The Venue
We left Lafayette Square Park on a St. Louis Trolley. Always a classic! The Trolleys are so good for photos. They are full of windows for more light and make for great photos compared to the typical bus. Liz and Scott made sure to prioritize more portraits at Missouri Athletic Club. So we made sure to get some super cool photos all around the lobby, including the stairs and elevator. We love indoor photos with flash, especially downtown. This venue works perfectly with couples that are looking for a place that has indoor photo options. So if you think it might rain on your wedding day or just want stylish photos indoors, Missouri Athletic Club is one of the best options for that.

Can’t Get Over This Ballroom
Now it was ceremony time! Liz and Scott got a nice little break from photos and then headed upstairs for their wedding ceremony in the ballroom. The Missouri room is everything you want from a ballroom. It’s elegant and ornate with high ceilings and timeless fine details. Liz and Scott made quick work of their vows and ring exchange, and we made certain they would never forget their unforgettable day.

Dancing The Night Away
Liz and Scott’s tear-jerker of a ceremony was followed by cocktail hour downstairs and then it was reception time. Like every other part of the wedding day, we always love the reception. All the formal photos are done, the stress of the day is behind you, and it’s time to party. These two topped their big day off with a beautiful reception dinner and a night of dancing. White Castle was delivered for a late night snack and we definitely snagged a few before sneaking out for some final portraits under the marquee! Missouri Athletic Club was an amazing venue to photograph. Every detail was perfect and Liz and Scott made it even more amazing.
