Alex & Grace // Cape Kiwanda, Oregon

Cape Kiwanda will always hold a special place in our hearts thanks to Alex & Grace. When we planned our visit to Oregon, we knew we had to capture some love while we were there! Then we met Alex & Grace. We got into contact (oh how we love you Instagram!) with these two love birds for a romantic anniversary session at their most favorite spot in Oregon. Needless to say, we created pure magic! This sun drenched anniversary session celebrated year 2 for the Mortons, and we couldn't have been more blessed to have met them for their special occasion. We instantly fell in love with the Pacific Ocean, the sandy dunes, seaside cliffs & that Oregon sunset. Oh yeah, and these two of course.

Here is their story:

Where did you meet? // "Alex and I met through his older brother, he was a few years older than me attending the University of Oregon as I was finishing up a gymnastics coaching job in my hometown. We first met on a double date at the movies and were absolutely smitten with one another! We connected on music, food, art—everything! I thought he was so handsome and it was literally love at first sight. "

When did you get married? //  "We got married on August 28th, 2014 after 5 years of dating. We were living in Eugene at the time, I was finishing graduate school while Alex was working full time. It was crazy planning our perfect wedding from 100 miles away! We got married at Scholls Valley Lodge, which was halfway between our two hometowns. We were with our closest friends and family on a toasty August evening and it honestly was an absolute dream come true. "

Why is Cape Kiwanda special to you? // "We’ve always felt most connected to one another at the coast. There’s something so spectacular about the rush of the ocean air against your skin and the endless hiking and adventuring possibilities. We absolutely adore nature in general, but there’s just something especially magical on the PNW coastline. We both work as wedding photographers got our start taking film portraits of one another at the beach—it made for the perfect backdrop! My aunt has a home in Pacific City, and I began bringing Alex there to explore in 2010. It quickly became OUR spot. We’ve spent many beach days cuddled up on the cape (rain or shine!), absorbing the scenery in all its beauty and soaking in numerous beautiful sunsets. It truly is our special place and it meant so much to us Dilan & Emma were able to capture our love so perfectly there!"

Here are the beautiful memories & magical moments that we captured.

Little did we know at the time, that two weeks later, "Duck Bill Rock" (also known as Pedestal Rock) would no longer be a part of the beach due to other visitors who decided it was best to destroy it. We are heartbroken that it is no longer there, but are so thankful that we were able to (safely) create some beautiful memories with it!

Thanks so much Grace & Alex for spending the afternoon with us & sharing your story! We hope these are memories that you can cherish for a lifetime!
